Navigalia is a multimedia and water show created and produced by the Acciona Cultura agency for the City of Sevilla as part of the Christmas festivities organized by the municipality.
Acciona Cultura called on Aquatique Show to create a water show facade featuring giant water screens and dancing fountains.
A facade of water screens for giant projections!
With three water screens, Aquatique Show created a projection facade measuring over a hundred meters across the Guadalquivir River, which runs through the center of the city.
The installation of water screens not only enabled to host high-quality and highly legible video projections for a show partly based on a visual and animated illustration of the story being told, but also it added depth to the show, since the transparency of the water screens preserves a depth of field that allows spectators to see the show's backdrop, the city of Sevilla itself.
Water screens create dreamlike scenery
The three water screens installed were positioned to allow almost continuous projection across the hundred-meter opening. As a result, the public is treated to panoramic views of the city, extraordinary backdrops and other dreamlike landscapes in highly colorful styles. The projections are superimposed on the real panorama of the city, creating a totally immersive effect.
Projections emerge from the river
The various protagonists of the story appear from the depths of the river: our water screens, with no visible structure, allow this effect of appearance; giant characters floating on the waters of the river, emerge by enchantment, pursuing their quest before the eyes of a dazzled audience!
A water show in the heart of Sevilla
The Navigalia show, “To the rescue of Christmas”, takes place on the Guadalquivir River, in the center of Sevilla. This is a strategic location, in a city of exceptional historical and cultural heritage, placing the show in an urban setting to offer spectators an immersive experience.
The city's lights, water and architecture are in perfect harmony with the show. As in the previous edition, the Triana Bridge played a major role in the show, sublimated by lighting effects and mapping.
Innovative staging
Navigalia features Fernandus, Sevilla's guardian spirit, and Curro, a young boy, who begin an adventure to recapture the city's lost Christmas magic.
Throughout their quest, Sevilla gradually transforms and lights up. The show uses water, light and the city's architecture to bring the spirit of Christmas to life and offer audiences an immersive experience.
Dancing fountains for a complete water ballet
Aquatique Show installed a dancing fountain with 16 straight jets, a facade arranged over a 45-meter opening, bringing parts of pure water ballet to the staging of the show. These lightened jets are synchronized with the music and other visual elements to offer a fluidity and voluptuousness that complement the architectural verticality of the light show.
The dynamism of the water show is partly created by the straight jets, marking highlights or transitions between the various scenes projected on the water screens. Combined with other effects, such as lighting, they can accentuate emotional moments, becoming real artistic instruments.
In Navigalia, these straight jets enhance the spaces by providing that beautiful effect of height to create a spectacular and grandiose aspect.
